The Financial Impact of Out-of-State Conferences
Florida loses millions annually as agency employees attend out-of-state, for-profit conferences, diverting funds that could be reinvested in the state's workforce and government initiatives. The Florida Technology Council (FTC) is addressing this issue by creating Florida-based conferences that keep sponsorship dollars in-state, directly funding training, certifications, and education grants for government employees. The success of the Florida Government Leadership and Innovation Summit proved this model works, ensuring agency leaders receive valuable insights while reinvesting profits into Florida’s workforce development. By prioritizing in-state nonprofit conferences, Florida can strengthen its agencies, build a more skilled workforce, and drive long-term economic growth.
