Internship to Jobs Program

About us

The Florida Technology Council was founded in 2004 in Tallahassee as the unbiased expert voice for Florida's tech industry in our state legislature and agencies. The Council now seats 19 active advisory board members and a membership spanning the globe. In 2020 FTC established a collaboration connecting Florida’s regional tech focused associations, councils, and chambers.  Headquarters still reside in Tallahassee, but the team now impacts tech and tech leaders across our entire nation.

FTC is Florida's Only Organization Focused Exclusively on the Needs and Priorities of the Sunshine State and its Expansive Technology Sector

Is this for me?

Worried about being a female or minority in a white male dominated industry?  Don't be!  The FTC is actively pursuing opportunities for women and minorities in Florida's high-tech sector.

Job Description

Summary: At FTC our focus is on building a better, safer, stronger, and more efficient Florida. We do this by working with organizations and groups like FDLE, the FBI, legislators, state agency leaders, educational institutions and industry trailblazers across the nation.  This job is NEVER boring and knows no limits.

So what kind of not-boring positions are we looking to fill?

Here are the jobs you’ll typically find offered outside FTC:  A person to answer phones and manage the office.  A person to manage events with organizations across the state. A person who thinks outside the box for the Marketing Department. A person who focuses on building memberships and sponsorships. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

FTC is different. The titles may be the same, but FTC structures these positions to attract individuals who are excited to continue our tradition of accomplishing far more than anyone thought possible.  We are building a team of individuals who will love coming to work, sharing their creativity, traveling together, and laughing when they are told they can’t accomplish what others see as impossible.

Membership, marketing, office and events management all impact one another.  A receptionist's attitude when answering the phone can either destroy or enhance months of work. An exciting and vibrant marketing person makes the job of membership growth far easier. Building great partners brings new opportunities for new and exciting conference and events. This is why we've structured our office, marketing, event and membership staff as a team where success can bump everyone's paycheck.  We all work together. We are all rewarded together.  This is not team-based pay... this is team-bonus pay.

So now you know we are seeking to hire more than "interns,” and you are still reading which means you are either using this as an excuse to get out of work you should be doing, or you're intrigued. Let’s keep going…

FTC is building a powerhouse team of individuals excited by the opportunity to truly change the world, starting with Florida. This team will support our community partnerships, philanthropic efforts, members and partners across the state.  This includes working with existing projects, as well as helping us to establish and grow new ones.  Our interns should be college students (preferably Junior, Senior or Graduate students) residing in the Tallahassee area and available 15-20 hours per week.

FTC works with leadership at the highest levels in the public and private sector.  In essence all FTC staff serves as a community relations specialist and an ambassador for the Florida Technology Council, with responsibilities for delivering and protecting the Council's image and values. As a result, our interns have opportunities to build and maintain critical relationships with key leaders across the nation.

Compensation

Each position begins as an unpaid internship running for a period of 60 days. During this evaluation period interns will showcase their abilities to work and support one another as a team, their effectiveness in their job, communication strengths, organization skills, enthusiasm, creativity, commitment, and their ability to bring fun and excitement to the team. If selected to stay as a member of the team, at the conclusion of this 60-day unpaid internship, interns will be asked to join the team and begin a new position as paid interns with multiple opportunities for advancement and bonuses.
